Keto diet

The Keto Diet, or Ketogenic Diet, is a low-carb, high-fat eating plan that encourages the body to enter a state of “ketosis”, where fat is used as the primary energy source instead of carbohydrates. This metabolic shift occurs when carbohydrate intake is drastically reduced, typically to less than 50 grams per day, forcing the body to burn fat for fuel. Foods rich in fats, like fatty meats, butter, oils, avocados, and low-carb vegetables, become the focus of the diet, while sugars, starches, and grains are minimized or eliminated.

One of the key benefits of the Keto Diet is weight loss. Many people experience rapid fat loss due to the body’s shift to using stored fat for energy. Additionally, the high fat and moderate protein content of the diet helps curb hunger and reduce cravings, making it easier to maintain a calorie deficit without constant hunger. Beyond weight loss, followers often report improved mental clarity and focus. The brain runs efficiently on ketones, leading to more stable energy levels and fewer crashes compared to high-carb diets.

The Keto Diet can also support metabolic health, especially for people with type 2 diabetes or insulin resistance. By reducing blood sugar and insulin levels, the diet helps improve insulin sensitivity and can reduce the need for medications. While the transition can be challenging, with some experiencing the “keto flu”, many find the benefits outweigh the initial difficulties, making the Keto Diet a powerful approach to improving overall health and wellness.
